AirBnb vs Booking.com

I think the best way to show advantages and disadvantages of Airbnb over Booking.com is to compare both. Let’s assume AirBnb is more “future’ way of travel accomodation and Booking.com more “traditional” one.

AirBnb

Advantages:

• usually cheaper accommodations to book here but that’s not always the case
• most hotels have 24 hours reception or at least late optional check-in
• sometimes standard of room/apartment might surprised you very positively compared to price you paid for it
• you may have access to kitchen or even have own kitchen

Disadvantages:

• fixed times of clock-in might make it very hard to arrive to apartment very late. What’s more, 24 hours reception is usually not available.
• obviously there are opinions available but I never feel the same level of security living in somebody’s apartment compared just to normal hotel
• unfortunately breakfast is rarely available
• if that’s a sharing accommodation not a full apartment, you might have to be quiet to do not disturb property owner

Booking.com

Advantages:

• staying in the hotels gives you more sense of security
• more places to choose from as some apartments from Airbnb are also on Booking
• hotels offer breakfast

Disadvantages:

• prices are usually higher on Booking.com
