Scottish Power is one of the biggest energy supplier in UK. There is quite a big chance that you’ve been their customer in the past or you will be after moving to new home. After being Yorkshire’s Energy customer just for a few months (they offered me a great rate in my area), because they ceased trading, I was automatically transferred to ScottishPower. I would like to review for you their tariffs and share ScottishPower refer a friend link. If you use it to switch your gas or energy, you will be awarded £100 bonus if you switch both energy and gas or £50 bonus if you switch just one fuel.
Why I’m staying with ScottishPower
I’ll be honest: I was expecting significant price hike after this “forced” switch. On the day Yorkshire Energy ceased trading I was provided with ScottishPower phone number and decided to call them to find out about the price per kWh. It was revealed to me by kind customer advisor that night rate (I’m on Economy 7) will be… 18% cheaper than in Yorkshire Energy which was unbeatable before! I couldn’t believe my ears so I asked also about day rate. Good news ended at that point as I was hit with 17% price hike for day rate compared to Yorkshire Energy. BUT! That’s almost irrelevant as especially during autumn and winter months I use up between 80-90% of energy at night (storage heaters, water heater, washing machine, night style of life). 8.117p per kWh is unbeatable for me doesn’t matter what energy price comparison website I tried to use! If your quote is better than your current tariff, I think moving to ScottishPower is a no brainer. Especially if you use my ScottishPower refer a friend link (CLICK!). Offer from ScottishPower is worse for you? I would advice you still join them as £50/£100 bonus for switch only energy (£50) or gas (£50)/both (£100) will easily cover 1 or even 2 months of your energy cost! And even if you change your mind or find better offer somewhere else, don’t worry! You need to be just 28 days with ScottishPower after switching complete to keep a bonus and use it for energy bill. I’m sorry but if you’ve been with ScottishPower before, I’m afraid you will not get bonus as T&Cs say it’s only for new customers. 🙁
